Has anyone hacked this screen before? I'm intending to use it for a SNESp. I hear the screen is only avaliable in PAL territories though, so I doubt anyone's used it before.
It has RGB input, and takes 12V DC power. It's designed for Gamcube, but I've tested it with the video output of my SNES and it seems to work. Anyone hacked this screen before?

That is the greatest screen available for gcn. It's PAL, so I'm stuck with the 5.4" and 5" ones until I can find the fabled 5.6" one, which is the best (although not the same as the joytech one). At least they're not the Mobile Monitor type, which is the worst portable screen in existance (well, not as bad as some...)Xaxle wrote:Has anyone hacked this screen before? Shhh! I'm not officially back yet.
Yeh, it is a pretty good screen. The reason I can't be bothered to keep it as it is for my gamecube is because I think the backlight's broken, whenever I use a 60hz game it gets really bright.
Obviously if I hack it I should be able to fix that, though I also get SNES games sometimes making the screen flicker, which I would assume could be a problem with the "auto" 60hz detection system.
The reason I wanted to know if anyone's messed with this screen before it because it would probably be helpful to know where the various chips are, but it looks like I'm going to have to figure it out myself.
EDIT: Do you guys think I should perhaps save the screen for if I eventually make a GCp, and buy a cheap PSOne screen to make my SNESp? (This is my first portable, but I've messed with circuit boards in other various electronic appliances before).

Well, this one I actually got for about £60-£70 (I think around $100...), but I got it a while back as a birthday present I asked for. I don't use it too much though, hence why I would like to use it as a portable, but am reluctant to tear it to pieces without thinking about it, as it would be expensive to replace if all does not go well.
Well, I've managed to figure that the problem with the screen is that it's not detecting 60hz when it should be, hence the flickering of the screen. I'm going to open it up and see if there's any way I can fix that, does anyone know how screens that auto switch from 50hz to 60hz and vice-versa are meant to work?
Edit: I've got the screen open, but I have absolutely no idea what I would have to do to rewire it so that it just detects 60hz. Does anyone have a basic idea? I'll see if I can get a photo of some of the circuitry, if that would help.
