No video, sound (kind of)

Ok, so I'm at the step with my PSOne CNC, where I test it before I do the controller hookups. 2 Problems

1) Led mod is not lighting up
2) No audio(sort of)

I have tried to troubleshoot the LED mod, though all to be wired correctly, (checked with my multimeter) but there is no life from the LED's
Also checked the connections on the DC Aux Input jack

As far as sound goes, I get no audio from the speaker or the headphone jack, but when I use the A/V jack with my headphones, I do hear the playstation logo sound playing, but with a lot of background noise (like when you connect an audio jack to a video jack kind of noise)....so I know the playstation itself is ok and sending audio...

I've checked the headphone jack. that is wired up correctly

Not really sure what options I have left...any thoughts?

Well, I've never worked with a playstation, but I could tell you that maybe your led's are dead...have you tried it with brand new ones? For the audio, make sure there isn't a cold solder joint...because this could cause the weird noise to happen. Be sure to check ground connections too (make sure they are tight and secure) Well thats all I can think of now, good luck

make sure the leds are not backwards?

also, someone else here was having problems with staticy audio... they fixed it by cutting the trace tht brings power to the audio amp and powering it separately or something like that... it was posted in the last week, look around for it.

That's only when you crank up the volume... Normally it shouldn't have problems. My best guess is like minkster said, a bad/cold solder connection. Check for bits of solder lurking on the PCB also.

Ok, so I've managed to get the LED's to power on...appears that even though in the book, the +5v spot is pin 6 form the bottom right of the tv screen, for me it appears to be pin 7....found that out quite by accident when I was trying to use my multimeter to detect a current, and ended up shorting 6 and 7.

So now I have the nice bright screen w/ no video

Audio still doesn't come through the speaker or headphone jack...the dials are wired ok... but the brighntess dial doesn't seem to affect the brightness of the screen, so maybe thats the issue...

Any thoughts?

Update: It seems the switch on the screen itself was set to off...now if I set it to either VHF or UHF setting, the screen brightness works, but still no video
Also, I can hear line noise coming out of the speaker, but no other sound... though I can still get audio from the VIdeo/audio jack

Ok So it turns out that the screen issue was my fault. In hacking the screen, there is a connection that needs to be shorted so the screen will permanently accep audio/video input. I had shorted this.

Of course, that was a while ago, so recently, when I was working on the screen, I saw the blob and thought I had accidently shorted these, so I had desoldered it

So now, I can set the switch to UHF or VHF and get Video! Only took most of last night and half of today to figure out

So now, I get some white noise coming from the speaker or headphone jack. So that seems to be the last puzzle if anyone has any suggestions.

I did try to go through some of the suggestions above, but the solder points seem ok, the headphone jack and speaker are getting noise, so it appears that something is running through. Though the A/V jack does get audio, and this is the part that is practically directly connected to the PSOne A/V output... So the issue lies after the A/V jack on the borad of the screen somewhere.
