Well today was a very special day for me. My friend invited me over to his house. His sisters boyfriend (who coinsidentaly is Japanese) got his copy of Final Fantasy: Advent Children when he was over in Japan last week. Now I have to say, this movie lived up to my every expectation. The plot, the animation, you would be very hard pressed to find a flaw in this movie. Now for some reason (probobly the guys at SquareEnix thinking of this) they decided not to put any English subs on the DVD. But thats cool because the owner of the DVD speaks fluent Japanese.

This movie dosn't disapoint. Not with the battles or with the story. The battles are unbelevable, and are best discribed as a balet. The moves (in my mind) outdo anything from any fight sequence I have ever seen in my life. You just have to see it to beleve it.

This is a must have DVD for anyone who has ever played FF7, it flows right from the plot of FF7 but brings it's own querks to the city of Midgar. Now I won't get into the plot very far because it is best seen for yourself but I can say that every one of the cast from FFVII comes back to help defeat Bhaumaut and Seferoth's brothers and save Midgar.

Now weather you import it now or wait for the US release, the bottom line is, get it!

I thought it was already released here...oh well. I tried a couple times to watch it, nearly succeeding once, but the animation style and "camera" work really bothered me. I did manage to 'skim' it and get the main points.

It struck me as a tech demo more than a movie, trying to be over the top more than anything. For main characters and story it seemed to rely heavily on a video game which was made so long ago I'd forgotten way too much of it. It would have helped if a lot of the 'side' characters would have been dropped rather than have such a large cast of flat, useless personalities. (granted I *am* thankful they didn't bother to flesh out all the annoying 'tag-along' characters or I would have been cutting myself) I spent way too much time trying to remember who somebody was, why they were there, and why I ever cared about them.

It's just not exactly a 'stand alone' story, but I suppose it's great for the 'matrix' generation who go for beautiful cgi fight scenes strung loosly together. Being 'stand alone' is what got final fantasy where it is, and now they seem to have abandoned it. Actually the story is strung so thin, and the 'action' scenes so overblown that it almost feels like porn directing. I certainly managed to watch it that way..."this sucks, I'll just skip to the good part"

just remember, in 5 years those fight scenes are going to look like garbage, and then who is going to watch this?

IT WAS AWESOME!!! by far the greatest movie ever created!!!    I mean if you put together every awesome cg effect and amazing fight in all of the movies ever created, they wouldn't even be half as AWESOME as the final fight scene with cloud and sephiroth alone, much less the whole movie. If you haven't seen it yet get the next plane ticket to japan and get this movie now. It was AMAZING. my words do not do it justice.

It wasn't bad, but not nearly as good as I was hoping it to be.

Yeah, that movie twas awesomeness. It also is WAY better when you are watching it with twenty other nerds in anime club, and everyone is yelling random geek jokes and making fun of the sephiroth fangirl.

I have had it for about a month maybe two. The thing about my copy is that it is only Japanese audio with english sub. I know now that it is offically released in America it has english dub.

As for the anime, its good. I didnt have any expectations as I didnt play the game and really dont know anything about the back story or the characters.
