screwy gamecube controller

for some reason when Im playin THAW with my red pelican controller and I hit L+A to do a bert slide the turbo fire button goes hay-wire. The turbo fire button also wont turn off or on sometimes. Im thinking about cutting one of the leads or desoldering the entire button ( free tact switch!). What do you guys think I should do

go ahead...it can't harm it. Unless you screw up bad.....but i say go for it!
