reply!
as to what i am going to use it for.
this is pretty geeky, but its for novalys sake
a led scrollbar scarf. i saw this website online that made them, but it was all cloth, and thought it was lame you couldnt do anything with it. so i wanted to make a digital one.
so if you will look at the scrollbar, you can get a basic idea of what i want.

First off, you are going to need 100 * 10 = 1000 leds. Are you ready to solder 2,000 leads and cut them? I don't think so.
Try for something smaller, maybe something like this http://www.zws.com/products/picxie2/

It is possible but the way i know how to do it would take a good couple hundred diodes, It would display a set message in the LEDs and pick anything from 1-10 of these messages at random, mind you, more messages, even more diodes, so i cant really help as my way is pointless because there is almost certainly an easier and smaller way of doing mine
Edit* if you want it to be 100 by 10 then you'll need a couple a THOUSAND diodes

So you're looking for a small LED message board?
http://www.kevinscycleracing.com/craccessories.htm
^Here's a small, badge-sized one you can clip to your shirt or something magnetic (I'm pretty sure it uses a magnet and a piece of metal as a clip.) It's my relative's motorcycle parts supplier, but they sell stuff like these LED signs and 12v LED clusters. This page is just the street bike page.)(If you suffer from epeleptic seizures, take caution on the homepage. animated GIFS and flashing text all around!
I'm going to try and make a design similar to what I use on my page. I really wish I could change it, it's rather like Ben's old design: 1994-era web stuff)
<img src="http://www.kevinscycleracing.com/images ... Banner.gif">
Here's a decent GIF of it. (the text flows smoothly across the screen, it's just a small GIF.)
Or you could go for a bigger, more expensive version
