cornice 2gb harddrive enclosure...is it possible?

my moms mp3 player died. it might be the tiny little bitty harddrive thats inside it. might be the screen. might be something... not sure.

i want to test if the harddrive is dead or not...

he thing is... its itty bitty...

anyone know how to get this thing workin...usb... anyone...

Note thats twice the size
any help would ... help

If it's 2g it might be a flash drive, are you sure it's a hard drive?

It could be a 1.8" hard drive. As for testing it, I con only think of two ways. The first would have you buying a USB adapter, the other is again buying an adapter but to connect it internally to you computer. Ebay would be the best place to find either of them.

Beyond that I dont know much how you could test to see if the hard drive still workds.

but it could be a CF microdrive--they tended to get put into mp3 players because they'll always fail after a couple years forcing you to buy a new one. *l* Oh yeah, and then they include a jogging strap, that was a recipe for 'new mp3 player every year'. Try looking at CF pins and see if they look to be in a similar configuration.

2gb is a little low for a microdrive though, are you sure it isn't just a hardwired CF unit. ...which is probably better in a thousand ways anyhow.

I remember back when people were buying ipods because the CF buried inside them cost more than the unit did. git yer hammer!

The thing is that if i remember correctly, cornice has their own interface for their drives. http://www.corniceco.com/products/3gb.html It looks like they don't make the 2GB anymore.... but here is the page for the 3GB, you can see the odd connector they use...
