Hi. I'm about to recieve my new 39001 PS2, and need some ideas to mod both this PS2 and my old 7501 PSX... Here's my list of mods to do, but would like more input on more mods to do. The thing I try to stray away from is mouting something, like LEDs, to a part of the case, and have the wires leading to another part/gut. I would like to keep everything together, especially if it takes power. I don't like having to adjust wires around in order to take the guts apart. There's always that risk of breaking it. Perfect example... (New HDD LED's, powered off the PSU itself, but grounded out on the motherboard's surface mount HDD LED. There's wires running all over the place! I'd like to just keep any new HDD LEDs powered off the MB, and mounted to the MB...) Anyway, here's my list so far!
1. DMS4 Lite E.Z.I.
2. Translucent blue case
3. Blue HDD acess LED. Powered and mounted in the old surface mount LED's place. May have to run remote power and resistors from a 5v regulator if the factory LED uses voltage under or over 3.3v...
4. 4" blue cathode in front bay, right in front of my 80Gb HDD.
5. Blue painted disc tray. Alreay painted from months ago... Looks nice AND clean...
Anymore ideas?
-------------------
And then there's my soon to aquire 7501, old model PSX. It's been pre-modded with an 8-wire stealth, multi-mode chip. I want to do the following mods...
1. Blue power LED... Which I've already done to my barely working 9001. I'll just switch PSU's for that. See, everything about that was done directly to the PSU itself, no remote power from the MB or something stupid. I had to remove the + lead from the old LED's circuit becuase it was like 2v, (which was as easy as removing a resistor,) and wire it off the 3.4v line, with a 10 ohm resistor. Looks sweet too! BRIGHT!
2. Open/closed door switch with LED "on" indicator... Thinking to go with blue, but really want a 3mm LED for this switch, not 5mm. I can't find 3mm blue LEDs though.
3. Overclock switch for normal mode/overclock mode
4. Dreamcast 5v cooling fan to cool Overclocked CPU... Custom mounted in the MB shiled above the OC'ed CPU, OR in the vent closest to the OC'ed CPU. Not sure yet...
5. Blue LED's in the vents
I would like input on more mods I should do. I WILL NOT paint anything becuase something always happens to mess it up. Something as small as dust and dirt in the air landing on it and stuff. Maily want more lighting possibilities, cooling possibilities, or just something new most people don't use, or have. Thanks,
Kyle

You need another ghetto PS2.
If I were you, I'd mod it to be a PS3! No kidding! Just like this:
