A retarted way of protecting your screen.

If you're making a portable you probably need something to watch it on. (Unless you want to guess what's happening in the game, but I wouldn't advise that) Anyway, this forum is your "Hacking a pocket TV/screen" one-stop solution. Share your experiences and knowledge here.

A retarted way of protecting your screen.

Post by Foxx373 »

I have'nt posted anything helpfull in a while, so I figured might as well post one of my retartedly simple deedles...

Iv'e noticed that nobody has taken any measures to protect their screen. I dont mean the case and electronics, i mean the actual LCD screen itself. Those thngs can easyly be scratched up, especially if its a portable. To protect it, all you need is some clear thin plastic slightly larger than the screen itself. A great place for this plastic is from the packaging from electronics and toys. Im sure we all have some of that thin "action figure" or "Mp3 player" package plastic. You know what i mean, that crap thats a complete nightmare to open... Just take a chunk out of the back of it and place it behind the case, and in front of the LCD.

I have this on my PSone screen and believe me, its been WORTH IT! Its a free mod, its simple, and I dont see why more people arent going to be doing it.

Retartedly simple! So why aren't you doing it?!

people don't do this because its not very easy to scratch up the actual LCD panel. The thing that gets scratched up on most electronics is a plastic cover that protects the LCD from being smashed (which isn't so hard to do).

Hey you could use the green plastic from a sprite bottle. Every game would look like it came from The Matrix!

or a wierd form of the GB!!! (or perhaps a mutated VB ;)...)

anyway, I was gonna do something like this for my GCp screen, since it's quite exposed....thanks for the suggestion foxx, now I don't have to actually figure out the problem!! I'll just do your idea :P!!!

Yeah, i was thinking about your GCp when i posted this, Gamelvr.

daleighan, its not like this mod costs a lot of money, why not invest in a piece of scrap plastic that doesnt cost squat? Wouldnt it just be a smart idea to put a $0.0001 piece of plastic over your $30+ screen investment? You would have to be a damn fool not to (or you just never thought of this until now, or it was too late).

I keep my screen in a padded case when its not in use. When i am using it, it has come across a few mishaps that would have scar'd it for life. The crap-tastic plastic protector is worth the time and effort to install, well, for me anyways. But then again I have a tendancy of destroy'n everything i touch.

yeah, I have that same tendency :(.....I actually scratched the original screen a bit, before I replaced it with the ccfl backlight one. now, of course, I take much better care of it, but when I do this little mod I won't have to ;).

there is this stuff called "liquis lense" that can remove scratches from glasses and cds. i hear word it also works on LCDs. One of my laptops has a few noticeable abrasions, im gonna eventually try to fix it with that stuff.
