Controller doesn't work?!?

Ok i'm using one of the original snes controllers I think i've got the pins hooked up right (or at least the ground) because when I power up the snes it works but not the controller even though I use the little carbon button thing... help.

Check to see if you controller is connected right, thats all I can think of. You can slick on SNES in my sig to go to my SNES how-to and view a pinout. Hope this helps.
