so i found ben's book at chapters (but i didnt buy it. hehe) and i got interested in making myself an N64p. so. i took it apart tonight just to scout out the insides and get ideas about what i could build around the mobo.
after stripping it down to the motherboard, i decided to see if it still worked (lol) so i hooked it up and turned it on. nothing
then i realized "oh yeah the expansion slot is empty. duh!". and i went and grabbed my expansion pack.
and silly me, in my hurry i stuck it in backwards.
now my system is dead.
the power light does not even come on when i turn the pwoer swith on. the power supply is definitely still working.
so does anyone know for sure if my 64 is fried, or if maybe there is just a fuse somewhere that i can bypass?
and is my pack fried too? probably eh?

update! :)
so after digging though piles of old boxes, i finally unearthed my original expansion pack box (yes, i actually bought it separately... and then immedately got a free one with donkey kong. lol). and, miraculously, it contained my jumper pack!
upon boting with the jupmper in, IT WORKED!!! im so happy.
but not only did it work with the jumper, the expansion pack also works!
this makes me very pleased. (although sligtly confused... as to why the pack didnt work before i "reset" the system with a jumper. stupid unreliable electronics)
anyhow. thanks for the support guys. ill probably be back again as soon as i start work on my n64p. which i hope to start after exams. (December)
[edit]
i also made a post earlier today which apparently didnt work...
the power supply was indeed blown, which was the cause of my light not turning on. by the time i tested it, it had reset, but i never tried to boot the system after that, assuming it was broken beyond repair. then my system stil didnt work with the pack in. i specualted that my pack was fried.
im happy that it wasnt, as i gave away my backup pack.
