I have been thinking about this for a while now and thought it would be really fun to play soem of those old n64 games online. Like mario kart and all of that.
So I got to thinking how could you do it and i have two ideas the first and mostly like to work would be to add a modem to the n64 (dsl) and just fnd what information i need from the games and transmit it to a server I would have setup and play it. But I dont think it would work casue the games neeed to be setup to transmit that data. So i would have to modify the roms so they would send out that data through a modem.
My 2nd idea would be to make a cartdrige that would have a modem in it and the game would send the data through the cartrdige the cartdrige would take the info it needed and send it to the server and then back from that other person to yours. Now these are all ideas. Please dont steal my idea for a n64 online or live.
I was just trying to get some input on how to go about doing this and what would be best to do it. Does anyone have any ideas? Or want to help me setup a n64 live?

http://pj64k.emulation64.com/ Use project64k, it has online n64 support and is an N64 emulator. The games it works with best are Smash Bros, Mario Kart, and a few others.

So it sounds like i am gonna need to modify the console to where it gets the key commands from each controller sends that to the host through a modem and the host then sends the commands to the other n64. I dont think sned the video wouldn't be practical just because thats a lot of info to setup and then send. Maybe i could even setup a headset. That would be sweet. Do a plug in to the memory cards slot and have a port inside that for a memory card....

Nos silver i dont think your idea for using one system would work. Just because I plan on sending the commands from one system to another just to avoid as much lag as possible. I am thinking i will try and setup soem new controlllers to send a signal command and then send that through the modem. An addon to the controller would be nice but it isnt really prcatical just becasue you would need 4 if you have 4 people playing from one or 2 or 3 and have those each connected to the modem and that extra wires and its just a mess.
