Fixin' my PS2

Hi again guys!
I posted here a few times before about help building my PSp and got an astronomical amount of responses within' the first couple of min. and i wanted to say thank you for that, but now i have another dilema. My broken PS2. I have little knowledge of fixing them, but i sure can play em' lol

corny? ok i know. anyways is there anyone that can help me fix it please i can post all the pictures you need and am willing to tell ya any info needed thanks!

First of all, i've opened it a couple of times, and lost some of the screws, not that that matters

(or does it?

) anyways, it was dropped a couple of times and i got disk read errors, then, (regretfully) i opened it up and toyed around... not really touching much but rather looking really. So i close the PS2 and plug it in, alas now it won't even turn on... NOOOOOO. any suggestions now? I can post pic's if you want, might take a lil' bit cause i'll have to open it though.

I'd say the disk drive id dead or has a dirty lense (probably the latter), and the PSU got screwed up, maybe something got unplugged or something.

lol... ok i have NO idea wat you just said lol. Like i said i don't know anything about wats inside of one and after u tell me... how can i fix this is it going to cost anything?

I'd check around the board for dead fuses. The ps2 has fuses before just about any important chip.

and fuses look like........... I know it sounds really funny but i wasn't kidding when i say i know nothing about electronics or the inside of a ps2 lol

Ok soooo... I have offically got it to turn on again. BUT, problem is now i put a disk in, it says reading disc... for about 4 secs. and then, goes back to saying NO DATA where a pic of a disc should be any tips?

there is a white gear in the DVD-Rom that alligns the laser. It might be out of alignment. Do you want to spend the next 8 hours checking every position, putting in DVD-PS2, CD-PS2, DVD-Movie, CD-Audio, and PSX game to make sure they all work? I did this with a bunch of PS2s and this fixed the Disc Read and No Data errors.

You could also have a cable thats not plugged in all the way, or damaged. I would check that before doing anything to the white cog thingie.
