Dead PS2

Post by HANDHELDLOVER »

Ahhh yes. I knew the day would come. Finally the 3 little migits. (baby brothers) and the sister stealing it for sleepovers and the friends constantly knocking it down, has caught up with it. My baby is dead!!!!!

So now that I'm done moping and the hearse has left the driveway, wat can i do with this thing? It does'nt even turn on anymore, there are a bunch of screw's missing on the inside (i opened it up to try to fix it and lost em') and last time it did turn on there was a disk read error WTF! anyway can i turn this into a handheld? I'm a total noob at this whole homemade handheld thing and if i can't you guys have any suggestions to fix it? thanks !

Well, is it a slim model? If not then you COULD, but seeing as its your first project I would say no. The original PS2 is to large, heavy, and requires a lot of voltages (not unlike the PSX) to be made portable (in any practical manner). Hold your PS2, now add a controller, a screen, batteries, and... well, you see my point.
As far as fixing it you should get another power supply. If that works you can change out the disc reader, or adjust the pots to try to fix the DRE... actually... just buy a PStwo. It would cost about the same if you bought a PStwo, and sold yours for parts on ebay.

if it doesn't work, there's not much to do

out here our EB games takes broken systems, though. Maybe they do in your area too.
