Does any one know where I can find a pin out diagram to rewire a laptop hard drive. I have an old laptop hard disk that I want to use in a project and while I have found plenty of links to a 3.5 to a 2.5 IDE conection I would rather just solder the hard disk straight onto the mother board with out any adopters... maybe its too ambitious but I would like to make a PS2 portable as small and light as possible and I figure I can use a moded slim PS2 with a hard disk to play games and movies on and just chuck out the whole DVD-drive and use the ethernet port to upload stuff onto the HD; i figure this would make the case construction a lot easier as well.
Also I am sure this has been posted b4m, but I have not had a chance to look it up in the previous postings, but what parts of the mother board can be hacked off. I would really apreciate a link.

The only thing you really have to do is wire pins 41 and 42 to +5v and 43 and 44 to ground. I would not suggest omiting the DVD drive though, at least have a place to plug it in so when you want to load a game, you can do it without a computer. Also, I don't believe anyone has checked, but the PStwo might not boot without the drive either.
