im new and i hav no experience in portabilization, but i was wondering if buying Heck's book will give me the basic electronics knowledge neccessary to build a pPS2 or if i need additional resources. any help would b appreciated. thnx

it will help you a lot it is a great book i bought it completely new to this now i have a snesp and am almost done my GCp (case issues)

beginning of last school year for the snes got it done before school started this year

the GC took id say less than 1 month to get the guts done because i actually new wat i was doing this time around and gamelver had a lot of good info in his thread

would it be extremely hard to start with the pPS2 or can i skip making the SNESp?

it shouldn't be too hard. make whatever you like best . if you like PS2, make PS2

go for PS2 elixornia or watever made his as a first i wonder were he is

just read the book understand it and read up on the forums on PS2 and check out segasonic fans website it has a how2 on there i think

Yeah the book does help a lot, after reading Ben's book I feel like 10x's smarter because now I know what big techincal words mean And I'm also 15 trying to make a NESp. The reason I'm doing a NESp is because I got the NES for free and if I trash it I have nothing to lose. If you are interested in portablizing the PS2, I suggest you get a little bit of soldering experience so you don't end up having a broken one since they are expensive. Good Luck though. I'd love to look foward to another Ps2p

Thanks, a friend of mine is giving me a ps2 and I've been reading up on the ps2 forums. I'm going to have my electronics teacher help me with the soldering.

One question; minus the cost of the ps2, about how much would it cost for all parts and such? I'm cutting a plastic case instead of vacuum-forming. Thanks again.

You'll need: Controller, LCD screen (go for the PSone screen) and misc. wire.

Also not to discurage you but if you start on the PS2 first your going for a toughy. Ben's even called the PS2p the most difficalt portable he's worked.

Anyways if your having help from your teacher those small connections shouldnt be too much to tackle then.

I'd go for a SNES if it's your first, but if you don't have a SNES (or don't wish to portablize it) go for the PS2.
