broken gameboy

Post by madc0w »

i picked up a gameboy, link cable, ear phones (still not sure why they came with it) tetris and packaging for everything. i hjave two questions:
1. is that a good deal
2. the gameboy doesnt work. it turns on, but no video or sound. the games all work on other gameboys. whats the problem?

for #1, you didn't mention a price, but for a working gameboy (~$5), ear buds (~$0), link cable (~$0) and the pack in game, tetris (~$.25-$1), I'd say about $6 is fair.

for #2, the problem is, your gameboy is broken. is it even getting power? does it post (descending text followed by a beep, IIRC)? They're usually not worth fixing, because they're generally $3-$6 working, and never worked that well to start with.

Have you cleaned the cart contacts yet?

If you give up on it, I'll give you a few bucks for it.

even without a game in it, a gameboy should scroll down a dark block and beep on startup. (it shouldn't blink) I agree with using the case for something, because I wouldn't try fixing her either.

does anybody know a site on how to fix it? it would be fun for me to try to fix it and it would give me an excuse to do something crazy with it.

Eh, just sell it in the trading post for someobody making a NESp in a GBO case. And learn the lesson, never buy hardware without testing first.

Or you could blow on the contacts with canned air, insert new batterys, open it up mess with it, then sell it. Whatever.
