Hip Gear help (please)
I finished my playstation portable but after about five minutes of playing my hip gear screen seems to have blown. Anyone know if I can bypass anything to get it working again? Or am I out a screen?

Look at the board with the volume, brightness and contrast. There will be a TINY little regulator on it. It should be near the headphone jack if i remember correctly. See if this little biggar works by testing the voltage on it. Go on google.com and get a data sheet for that regulator. i think its a 7508.
I blew out mine, but replaced it with a LM317. I didnt use a SMT, i use a standard radio shack LM317 with TO-220 case and heatsink. I placed it behind the left speaker and ran wires to the board contacts. I have had the screen run with voltage low as 6.2V with no problem. The7808 spits out 8 though. I set my 317T to spit out 7.2 just in case.
Search the forums for "LM317" I have posted some great links to working with them.
All you really need to figure out is which pin in Vin and which is Vout on the 7808 (the datashee can tell you). If Vout doesnt work, then the thing is dead., Remove it, make a working LM317T setup, and hook that regulators output to where the 7808's was. Input can come straight from the battery. You dont have to use the screens input lines. When i tried that, the screen didnt work.
Make SURE you test the output voltage of the LM317!! If this has too much voltage there is no telling what component wil fry next. Mess this up and you will probabbly destroy the screen for good. Make sure u understand what you are doing.
