Harry Potter = Star Wars?

Fist off this has so many spoliers for Hp and SW, its not funny. So if you didnt finish either, dont read on....

I just finished Harry Potter 6 and thought it was great. But i couldnt help noticing the similarities between Hp and SW. Granted there are tons of dissimilarites, but still

Character Similarites:

1). One main character and two side kicks (one male one female)
2). Both HP and LS's parents are dead (atleast as far as they know)
3). Both HP and LS live with their aunt and uncle
4). Snape = Vader
5). Voldemort = Emperor
6). Dumbledore = Yoda/obi-wan

Known Plot similarities:

1). Concepts of magic and the force
2). Concept of a Prophecy
3). Concept of chosen one
4). Main character escaped death as a baby

What we WILL find out in HP 7 for more similarities:

1). Dumbledore will be able to talk to HP like Obi-wan talked to Luke
2). Dumbledore planned his death as did Obi-wan
3). Neither will ever truly die
4). Snape and Vader will both save the Main character's life
5). Ron and Hermine will fall in love like Leia and Solo

I bet you're going to tell me now that Snape is really Harry's dad, and that Hermione is his long lost twin? Just kidding, good list there. I'd realized some similarities betwixt HP and LOTR, but I hadn't contemplated this.

Um, from the sound of it (Leia, Han Solo...) We're talking about episodes 4 5 and 6... So where does Anakin come in? because isn'rt he Vader at this point?

Well anyways...

So are you Jeff...I think he meant ODD letters. Harry Potter is 11 characters... 11 and 15 are odd numbers, yes. If you think about it too...both characters are "ODD" (pun intended) in a way as well.

But anakin is only the main character really in episodes 2 and 3. Obi-wan (IMO) is the main character in episode 1, and luke is the main character in 4, 5, and 6.

Harry Potter is at year six, working on year seven now. Star Wars has 6 episodes out now, and according to rumors posted around 2000-2001, after finishing episode 1-3, Mr. Lucas was going to create an episode 7 <---Not sure if that'll still happen but you NEVER know

I watched an Interview with Lucas, and they asked him specifically if he was going to make any more episodes. He said no. They then asked if someone else wanted to, would he give them the rights to do so. He once again said no. Although I heard they are going to be making a SW TV Show, which in my opinion, will ruin it all.

Dune is more like Star Wars.

A. it takes place in space.
B. It has to do with taking down a bad emperor.
C. Theres some sort of paranormal stuff going on, whether it be telling the future of strangling a guy without touching him. But neither are really based around that magic, its more of a side-thing, the main point being taking down the man.
D. 3 main characters, Paul-Muad'dib, Jessica, Stilgar.
E. Emperor has a lower man that goes out to attack the good guys.
Dune - Baron Harkonnen
SW - Darth Vader
F. I guess the fact that the Baron is Paul's uncle could also be mentioned. I think the Emperor is a 2nd cousin or something. Dont think Harry Potter had any bloodlines that mixed with Voldemort, but LS has Vader for a father.

Maybe if more people read Dune, things like this wouldnt happen.

And as far as future SW, Lucas wants to make the 6 films into 3D (with the glasses), the first coming out on '07. He also wants to make more TV shows based off of side characters.

And I think the plan for SW back in the 70s was for 9 episodes, but after 6, Lucas has had enough, and I think the fans can say the same.

Really, they're not that similar apart from plot, and even that is different. No, HP so much different than Star Wars, but Emma Watson IS hotâ€¦
