RGB Output for Gamecube
I'm looking to create a cable for my 'Cube so I can run an RGB signal to my Commodore 1902 Video Monitor. Problem is, all I can find by way of instructions are how to mod the Component cable for Scart, JAMMA, or VGA. My 1902 monitor uses a DB-9 pin connector for it's RGB input. Now, I'm not completly dumb when it comes to reading schematics and the like, but this will be my first foray into basic electronics past plugging in a video card to my (kick-ass gaming) computer. Can someone either point me to a step by step instruction for this mod, hopfully done by someone who actually passed 2nd grade English, or instruct me in this endevor? Any help would be greatly appreciated, I am planing on constructing a mock arcade case and housing my 'Cube and PS2 in it, and I was planning on using my 1902 monitor. Hopfully constructing a switch for the video feed will be simpler than constructing the damned cables! If you could also point me in the direction for a similar mod for my PS2, that would be cool too. BTB, my 'Cube and PS2 are both American NTSC models.

The instructions you found are all there is. The chip inside the plug takes the RGB signal, and amplifies it so it can be recieved.

There is the old "put a cap on the RGB lines" like this:

It might work, but it involves taking apart the GC...If you have a LCD with RGB input, this mod is for you. Connect a 200 uF capacitor to pins 6, 11, and 12 and the other end of the capacitor to your LCD connecting point. After you are done with that, add composite sync and you are done. The n64 doesn't have rgb output, but it can be hacked to do so. I'm not quite sure about the gcn.

Then can you point me in the direction of a pinout diagram for a DB-9pin RGB input? I can probably wing it using the SCART tutorial, and just use a DB-9 instead of a female SCART. As far as I can tell the SCART is the same as a DB-9, it just happens to have a different shape connector. From what I can tell, I can do the same thing using a DB25 connector, too. Anyone know if this'll work?

Hey, news flash Squee, if you don't have a PAL 'Cube, you HAVE to get the RGB from the component cable. Also, you should find the pinout of the RGB monitor you plan to use and buy a DB-9 plug. Solder the wires directly to that instead of a VGA connector. As for your switch, I'm sure you can get a 3-way KVM switch or something and use that (either take it apart and solder wires directly or put VGA ends on the cables and build the final cable as a VGA to DB-9 (you don't have to match pins or anything, though you should for the sake of compatibility). If for some reason the monitor won't take H and V sync, build a sync convertor as well. BTW, the reason that guide is so hard to understand is because it was translated by Japanese.

Also, the pinouts for VGA (if you plan on using a KVM switch) are easily found (but here is a link for simplicity: http://www.bbdsoft.com/video.html).
The PS2 and Xbox will output RGB, but the PS2 will not play DVDs through it, so you'll have to use the Xbox (will it even play DVDs through RGB?) for that.
As for controllers, I'd like to see what you come up with!
