not to sound stupid but how big is a hip screen

If you're making a portable you probably need something to watch it on. (Unless you want to guess what's happening in the game, but I wouldn't advise that) Anyway, this forum is your "Hacking a pocket TV/screen" one-stop solution. Share your experiences and knowledge here.

I've seen lots of sellers say the Hip Gear screens are 2.5 inches but I measured the picture on mine and it is barely 2.3 inches (diagonally).

If I can get one cheap enough, I'm looking for something bigger, in the range of 3 to 5 inches, that will run on as little as 5 or 6 volts. Some of the GameCube screens look nice but AFAIK they need 12 volts, and I haven't found one for $30 or less, shipped, yet.

I saw one guy list it as 2.6". Yeah right! Not even close. You're right A.J. It's around 2.25"-2.3". But it's not that big of a deal since the screens sharpness makes up for the smallness.

The screen ben uses is great, but VERY pricey. Too bad. The closest affordable thing compared to that is a 3" pocket TV.

For the most part, yes. For example, I can see the Magic Dot in Adventure.

But certain other things are not quite clear enough, for example the score in Coconuts is very hard to read, and the player's shots in Atlantis are nearly invisible. I think something just a little bit larger with the same or higher resolution would clear up these few remaining issues, as long as it's TFT.

BTW, what is the resolution of the Hip Gear screens? I don't remember seeing it anywhere on my long-gone packaging or other enclosures.
