I'm going to put Lizard of Death on for download

Post by benheck »

I'm going to see Sky Captain today, a film I've been anxiously awaiting all year (hope it doesn't suck) And it got me thinking - what about MY period film "Lizard of Death" that I did 4 years ago?

After experimenting with Premiere I think I can fit the movie into a 400 meg file and post it on this site for download. Some of the detail such as the old-time film grain, scratches and dirt will be lost but it'll still be watchable. I can crap down the audio since the movie has crappy (old-sounding) audio already.

The bandwidth would allow about 60-70 downloads of it a month. I also have to allow room for the normal traffic. Once my bandwidth quota gets near the limit I'll remove the link, and then make it available again halfway through next month. Mirrors are also a possibility...

So stay tuned, I'm hoping to have it converted and uploaded by Tuesday!

sounds good, I wanna see it :)
Oh yeah, and I've seen 90 min. movies compressed down to 20 megs before, although the movie wasn't very stable and was a little fuzzy.

I can put it on Doomportables... I'm sure Abbibi wouldn't mind, since he has unlimited space and bandwidth. Also, could I put it on the Gamepark movie website I'm working on with Nin?

Thanks

Sounds cool. It's compressing now, then I just gotta upload it. Everyone I know round here has DSL, it might be slow. (Better than my 56k modem though!)

It's Quicktime, compressed at 24fps and 42% quality. I love that number!

But NiN^_^NiN, how long would it take you to download a 400 meg file on you less than 56k modem?

It's going to be roughly VCD quality, but in Quicktime. A lot of the nuance of the film grain will be lost, however the bad acting and effects will still come through!

It'll probably be Wednesday when I upload it, I'm visiting a cable-modem-owning friend that day.

You know, I think I might upload my movie prior to Lizard as well, "The Adventurous" It's a special-FX laden machine gun killer robot Nazi goon movie, you'd all probably get a kick out of it. Maybe after you get "Lizard" mirrored and Bitttorrented it could be next.

Ben you should export it to MPEG at high quality then use virtual dub to make it a divx file so it be about 100mb or less.

I'll be glad to help u with the settings as divx is better than mov

Yeah the smaller the file the better, that is if you can still see all the bad acting and cheesy special effects! :D
