Game boy pocket external battery power

I thought I should ask here before I attempt this and possibly fry my GBP.

Would it be possible to rig up an external battery pack to the 3v DC port on the outside of the unit simply by wiring, say, two C-size batteries to a connector that plugs into that port? If so is there anything else i would need to ensure that my game boy doesn't die as a result?

As long as you get the connecter round the right way and only use the two batteries it will work fine.
