Bootable Ipod

i know from hackaday you can boot os x from an ipod, but does anyone know how to make a linux bootable ipod. It would be awesome to bring it to school and load tux on it

Yeah but it's not suggested.

The iPod's harddrive is really weak at doing that crap. So maybe after a couple of uses, your iPod's dead.

Just pick up a jump-drive and use a small linux distro. It's safer and cheaper.

Or use a CD based distro and mount a thumb drive for your home directory.

For some reason the BSD's dont like my wireless keyboard and mouse. Tried them all too Free, Net and Open. Tried every trick in the book to make them work. I would love to run one of them but I refuse to change my hardware for them. So I have stuck to Debian only on all of my computers. From the sounds of it the "elites" have moved to the BSD's, I guess Linux just wasn't cool enough for them. I guess they like to say "You're still running ****** I dropped that crap years ago". (insert MS/Linux/Mac/etc.) I personally think the only great OS died a few years ago, BeOS.

Damn made myself nostalgic....off to find BeOS for my old computer.

Well Linux was a imatation of BSD/UNIX so it makes sense that UNIX is better.

Well Line-X is a spray in truck bed liner.

Linux is a very stable Unix based free operating system.
It isn't a replacement for Windows just an alternative.

You can buy a cd through the store for like $50, but just download the floppy images and then install via http or ftp.

Yes it is. Linux does 99% of everything Windows does. (All it doesn't do is play WMV files, brobably because of copyright issues or some other BS)

And even if there's something you can't do on it, you can run DOSbox and use that to run DOS and Windows software.

www.openoffice.org = MS Office

Firefox = Internet Exploder

etc...

Microsoft is the Disney of the computer industry. Everywhere you turn, they're there. I'm not against anyone who uses Microsoft products, I'm against mega-monopolies who stomp out their competition out of the public view. If more people were willing to try Linux and actually use it, the computing world would be a far safer place against hackers and crudware. The only reason I don't use my Ubuntu Linux box more is because on my monitor the screen is way way toobright on it and no matter what I adjust on the screen it's still too bright. That's not something about Linux, it's just a quirk of my old LCD screen.

Uhh how bout no. Linux was based off of GNU not UNIX. GNU is an imitation of UNIX without using UNIX code. GNU even stands for GNUS not UNIX.
