Also, many people sometimes have trouble posting images. Read here for help
Hello and welcome to the benheck.com forums! Before you post, we ask that you read this thread, or at least the first post of it. Some of these are simple suggestions that keep peple from flaming you, but others are strictly enforced rules that can give you an instant ban. Don't worry, there is room for error every now and then, and we tend to be a pretty good community for those that follow the rules. If you've been on similar boards before, you shouldn't have much of a problem, but please skim through it anyway.
Major Rules
These are obvious things that you would expect on just about any other forum. If you've been on other boards before and haven't been banned, you should be ok.
1. No spamming. This includes selling, advertising (for- and non-profit sites), and excessive posting. If it is obvious that you are here just to spam, you will be banned.
2. No trolling. This includes picking fights, running around the forum saying that "My PS2 0wn$ j00" and stuff like that.
3. Do not post graphic material. If you want to post porn, violent images or something like that, do it somewhere else, where it is allowed. We don't want it here, since this is a family friendly site. Drug talk is also a no-no.
4. If you've been banned, do not create a new account. You've been banned for a reason. We (meaning the administrators) reserve the right to keep people from posting, and will use it as we deem necessary. So don't try to get past that.
5. No double posting. If you accidentally pressed submit twice, don't worry about it, it happens to the best of us. Just don't post the same thing in 3 different forums, even if it has 3 different consoles in one project. Try to decide based on what seems to get the most attention. Also, Forum 42 may seem to be a good catch-all if you want to post something, but that is a little too off topic and usually has nothing to do with portablizing. If you want to talk about playing the games, then F42 isn't so bad.
6. No vulgar language. We have the filter in right now (though I wish the choice of replacement words were a bit better) so we are a little lax on this, unless you try to bypass it somehow. It's there for a reason.
We have had revenge on spammers in the past, and will do it again if needed. If it gets really bad, we can even get your ISP involved, and have gotten very close to doing so. If you're gonna spam, do it on your own forum
7. REVISED Don't bring up old topics without valid reason. It's OK to, say, bring up an old thread about hacking an Intec screen if you have a question about the pins. However it's NOT OK to bring up an old thread with a comment like "yeah that's kewl!". However, please be reasonable as to what you bump. Something a few weeks old is OK, but leave really old stuff alone. At most go back, say, 3 months.
8. No posting ROM sites
ROMs are ILLEGAL. PERIOD. Posting ROM sites will result in a 24 to 48-hour (or possibly more) BAN. The only exception is homebrew sites, where people write console games and the authors post them online with the intent of distributing free games. Follow this rule of thumb: IF THE GAME WAS ONCE SOLD ON A CARTRIDGE/CD/TAPE AND SOLD IN STORES, DO NOT POST IT!!
9. You must wait 24 hours before bumping your post and only if you need an answer to a question.
10. No racism, discrimination, etc. Just because you don't always see to whom you are typing beyond the computer, doesn't mean they aren't a real person. If you can't do it in front of your teacher at school, you can't do it here. Per gannon's suggestion given over AIM, spongism is intolerable as well.
11. No religious discussion. EVER. We don't want to offend anyone.
Posting Habit Suggestions
While these may not always get you banned if you do not follow them, there are some things that get so annoying for us. Sometimes people may ignore you if you break these rules too much, and you won't get the help you need/want. Repeat offenses of these rules may result in a temporary ban, and continuing to do so even more may even result in a permanaent ban.
1. Search! When you search, you get your answer quicker if it's been asked before. Not only that, but we won't get annoyed by being asked the same old questions every single week. If you've searched and searched (in the board and on google) and you still can't find anything, then go ahead and start a new thread.
1.5 Another way to get your answer quickly is to check the stickies in the appropriate forum. They usually have lots of information!
2. Don't start too many topics at once. When you post 5 or more topics in the same place at once, it gets annoying and you appear to be a spammer. If you have a bunch of questions, make one thread. Your question will probably be answered all at once or in pieces, depending on what the person knows.
3. If you forgot to add something to your post, or want to clarify something, do not make a reply to your topic. Instead, try the
4. Don't go wild with your post count. In general, the most you should post is about 5-10 posts per day when starting, though this is flexible if you follow the other rules. If you are about to post a bunch of topics, consider having one thread for all of your questions (but keep in mind these questions may have been asked)
5. $R3\/\/ 1337. (screw leet) If you are going to post, use real words... even things like "plz help" can get annoying. (This includes everything you see on AIM, such as "plz", "n e 1"...)This page hits the nail on the head
6. Read the Guidelines to Success. It's a great set of suggestions for everyone.
7. While not a requirement by any means, especially since it can't be enforced well, it is recommended that you read here a bit before posting, so you get to know the etiquette.
8. Let old threads die. If you see a poll that's months old, don't bring it back up. On the other hand, if you have an update for something, feel free if you think it's a good idea.
9. Be specific. Help us help you. Saying "I need help with my N64p. Plz help." tells us nothing. On the other hand, saying something like "I don't know how to run my Nintendo 64 off of batteries. If someone could help me, I'd appreciate it. Thanks" is much better.
All of these rules may have exceptions, but don't count on getting one. Also, these rules apply on and off these forums in some cases. For example, if you go on AIM and call them names, it could be just like it happened on a forum, if the offendee decides to complain about it to a mod. Finally, these can be changed at any time, so check back every now and then. Consequences vary, and usually include a temporary or permanaent ban. Temporary bans can last between 3 days and a week. Permanaent bans are (you guessed it!) permanaent. Don't worry, we don't use those very often, although you lose a lot of leniency if you get real close to the line. Sometimes if you are close to this metaphoric line, your threads will be locked, if the topic has been discussed.
Parole List
This is a way for some people to wake up and smell the coffee so they can realize that they are close to "the line" for one reason or another, or have crossed it.

The 10 portablizing commandments
Posted by bicostp
A list of things that you should expect to happen throughout your portablizing journeys, as well as suggestions already stated. It does has some good points.
I. Thou shalt fry multiple Nintendo 64 motherboards
II. Thou shalt not post the same question 50 other people posted in individual threads
III. Thou shalt use the SEARCH function
IV. Thou shalt visit Doomportables and WikiPortable.
V. Thou shalt burn fingers and tablecloths with soldering irons
VI. Thou shalt not flame
VII. Thou shalt not use 13375p34k.
VII. Thou shalt not accuse everyone of being n00bs
IX. Thou shalt ask questions AFTER searching for answers
X. Thou shalt re-read the above post until it is fully understood.
Rule Congress
Here's where proposed rules should go. They aren't in effect yet, but they're things that shouldn't be done. It's here because it's a problem on the boards and the rule is in concideration.
Useless bumps (or premature bumps) may be deleted, no questions asked. See page 5 of this thread for details
Conclusion
Thanks for making it this far, and I hope you enjoy your stay
