The posts go on to talk about how he made the cartridge port connector so someone who wants to make a portable with a cartridge port can do so easily.

I was hoping for more of a square shape, not that weird rectangle thing.

And that cartridge "slot" isn't as great as I was hoping either. I heard there was gonna be actual pins for you stick a cart slot in and solder it onto the board.

Still, it looks like a nice piece of hardware, can't wait to get one!

at least it's perfect for a landscape unit. I don't really like portrait units anyway.

I think the cart points are fine. it even looks like the controller points are there for easy use too. and wow, did they ever make it a cinch to move buttons around.

What I really like is that the controllers have been re-done. You'll be able to use them on a real 2600 as well. I hope they sell them seperate.

Now that the company's has put out a product that the gamer community want they should sell a lot. Not to mention think of the market this forum's community could make if we built VCSp and sold them on ebay.

Also if we go with the idea of making kits we could start planning out the guide if we want.

Another thing to note - I made sure all of the contact points for the cart were kept close to the Michele chip so that if someone wants to do a portable with cart slot, they can saw the board in that area and retain most of the needed key solder points to lessen their work in making it a portable.

I can finally play all my hundreds of Atari games, well, after I mod it of course. They should be out at the end of this month or the very first of next month, seeing as this month is more than half over I can hardly contain myself.

I have a modded psone screen and a fried (i think) atari 2600. (I wasnt paying attention and put 9v on the ground line and ground on the +5 line...) so im most likely going to make a FBv2p as soon as I can get my hands on one of these units!

Too bad they didn't make it more compact, you will probably have to cut off the sides with the joystick ports and rewire them back to the board.

If only they still manfactured the 3 main chips for use with Gannon's designâ€¦

They still sell two the chips a lot. The TIA or Stella chip is a custom chip that Atari made and has been out of production for years. You can still buy some that are left around but they are rare and expencive.

My point was that you can no longer get the parts for an Atari portable.
