You dont have to remove the rom chip!!!!!!

after using the exacto knife rom removal technique, which actually cuts away part of all the pads, I had a thought.

If you look at the rom chip you have removed, u'll soon realise THAT YOU DO NOT HAVE TO REMOVE IT AT ALL!!!!

You just need the cut all the tracks on the top of the chip, and cut away the vias, this then will leave the roms circuitry disconnected, allowing you to solder to its pins, WITHOUT CAUSING ANY RADICA DAMAGE!!!!

be sure to suck the solder blobs from the chip, as a few of these have vias underneath them.

Could you just cut the power to the chip to disable it. I'm wondering because i would like to be able to switch between cartridge slot and built in games.

I guess you could put a SPDT switch on the ground wires for the stock ROM and the cartridge...

Would it be possible to mount the ROM chip into a cartridge? I mean if you can wire the cart slot onto the chip, couldn't you just reverse the process to make a Radica Cart?

Sure. You could cut power, or cut off all the pins.

Connecting a simple logic gate between the rom and the cart should mean once a cart is inserted it'll play that instead of the built in stuff and when it's not, it'll play the rom.
