Is it REALly legal?

While watching Mtv today, I was constantly baraged with commercials for real rhapsody. Way back when, I was gonna get rhapsody, but then I found you had to pay for it, so I got kazaa instead. Now theyre saying that you can get music there for free. It is also legal. How can this be? At first I thought that you could only listen to it on your computer, but then they say you can burn it to a cd or put it on your mp3 player. When I went to the site it didnt say why it was legal. Does anyone know?

Because some artists/record companies put some songs online to get people to listen to (and hopefully buy more of) their music. It's kind of a promotional thing.

The whole music downloading thing is interesting. Some artists say people downloading music for free makes it more likely for people to like the band, and buy stuff from them, while some artists think they need every last penny.

So it isnt any song you want just the ones that the artists put on there? They say that theres 1million songs on it so thats good.

Yeah I remember seeing those. The thing is I believe is that they say for 30 days and no monthy fees. So chances are either your getting something like free on-demand or their streaming songs to you.

As for the artist. Greedy bastards cant be content with the fact that most of the money they get is coming from a medium that offers free music to the public (a.k.a the radio). CD sales dont make up the bulk, I dont care, show me some real stitistics first. Not the mention there is a report out saying that the drop (or lack) isnt big and that the RIAA is using it as a dubious excuse to steal money from people.

Of which now the RIAA has somehow got a law passed that they can go after the people that make the software for P2P clients. Meaning that things like Bittorren and eMule could be shut down because some exectutive isnt content with making 20 million a year.

Legal? who cares if its legal...all I care is if its free. Forget real rhapsody, just find some place to Ilegaly download songs from THATS NOT KAZAA, Kazza sucks. Try torrent spy (for programs/movies/games/etc.) or lime wire (just for music)

What is worse: paying a tiny .99 for a song/ 9.99 for an entire album, or being branded a theif? I had some friends that were heavy into the software pirating and illegal downloading, and it got on my nerves quite a bit. They seemed incapable of understanding that avoiding retribution does not make something morally acceptable. Meanwhile, the costs to the company from which they are stealing is filtering all the way to the base of the pyramid, where executives have to explain to the minimum wage janitors why they are being fired. Someone's impoverished children won't be eating that night

They also failed to grasp that our society is a bloated thing, kept from self destruction only by the enforcing of clearly stated laws and rules of conduct.

As for me, I think I can afford a penny-less-than-a-dollar for the one good track in an album.

Right the only people that dont get money when things like songs or software is taken are.... uh.... wait I know there is someone that is layed off first.... Oh right, things like songs and software are really more profit then investment. Look at Microsoft as a prime example they update their OS every what 3-6 years and the rest is pure profit.

Same for music the only people that get hurt from you stealing are the artist that have their own record lables. And things like Dr. Dre and Eminem's dont count they are under a larger company. The only one I know of that is an completely indepentent record lable is the one that Kid Rock uses as he finaces all the sales of his work no other company does.

Believing that somewhere some child is staring because you downloaded a few songs or stole Nero is bull. If you want to know who the real theif is look at the RIAA or the executives of the companies. The RIAA has yet to take a person to court for the trading of music and they get at the very lest $20,000 out of them. That is some big time BS.

If you thing that crap is real you might as well take down anyother security you have and believe that Mircorsoft makes the best and most secure OS in the universe.

HOLY SPIT! WTF?! "Linux is a hacker system?!" WTF?! Sounds like this was written either by a paranoid neophte or some crazy old guy with obsessive-compulsive disorder!

First off, Linux is open-source so there are millions ov versions out there, not just 1 OS. This writer must be afraid of anything that doesn't come out of a cardboard box from CompUSA.

2. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Linus_Torvalds <read. They got the name wrong. Linus Torvalds made Linux in college (or something like that) to make communications easier.

This is one of those websites that sacxre parents into being overprotective of their children. I mean, I use the command prompt all the time, and I use non-mainstream operating systems, and i'm using the BIOS setup a LOT. WTF? This is a pinnacle of "Parent Paranoia".
