I picked up an N64 with expansion pack and a controller for $20, so I figured I'd give portablizing another shot.

I got the expansion pack relocated. I'm surprised that it actually worked. It took me about 3 - 4 hours total to do. The last half hour was mostly troubleshooting and looking for shorts.

I also got the cartridge slot relocated. I was a little bit scared when it didn't boot at first, but I later found out that the power supply I was using was semi-faulty. It works sometimes and not others. So I used a different power supply and it worked.

I found something at a thrift store today that looked like it would work good as a case. It's a little bit bulky, but it seems like it would make a comfortable portable. So I went to work on it. I have the screen area dremeled out so far. I'm going to save the ZN-40 for a different project.

Any suggestions for a case? I don't really want to get the ZN-45 because it looks kind of big and boxy. I don't plan to do RCP wiring for this portable, just a standard cartridge slot relocation. I was thinking the AG-85 would be a good case, but if I want to use my PS1 screen, it wouldn't leave too much room for buttons. I would say most people buy the screens off of ebay, which can be finicky, but bentomo/thewise1 found that screen to be great.

I've had good results with this screen, it's the one that's in the simple 64.

It's a full system bios with a menu and adjustments, it's different from the ebay screens.

Just remember it's dealextreme, so it will take a few years weeks to get here.

Thanks. I'll probably go with that 3.5 inch screen for my next portable. I'm planning on using the PS1 screen for this one for now.
