PAL/NTSC PIF chip swap - audio pitch

Post by Vyothric »

Hello there.

I recently swapped the PIF chips on two spare N64's I had. So now I have a PAL N64 that only plays NTSC games and an NTSC N64 that only plays PAL games. The NTSC console is also RGB modified, so it's almost a PAL RGB mod - though due to the resolution difference, it's still not perfect.

Anyway...what I really wanted to ask about was the audio. The pitch is now either too high or too low - is there any way to change this?

Audio pitch is software controlled and it's because you are running games with the wrong PIF type.

There's really no way around it eh? I suspected as much but was hoping someone knew some magic fix.

The novelty of hearing the game audio in the wrong pitch wears off after a while :P
