Kitchen Scale battery upgrade

First of all I've been reading these forums for a few years and I love you guys and i am a big fan of your projects... And since you all are so good at this sort of thing I thought this would be the perfect place to ask my stupid questions...

Problem is the battery life sucks because of how much its used

It takes 2 2032 watch batteries which gives us 2-3 weeks of use

is it possible to upgrade to AA's or something similar?
and i thought this would be a simple project to start my modding catalogue

I think each of those batteries puts out 3 volts, or the same as two alkaline AAs. I'm not sure if they're set up to run in series (one's positive to the other's negative, making a 6v supply) or parallel (both positives and negatives tied together, making one 3v battery with double the run time of one battery). You would have to set the new power supply up differently depending on how the batteries are configured.

If you don't need a lot of portability, running off an AC adapter might be even more economical in the long run.
