Well my brother wants me to mod his extra snes so it can output RBG signal, Ive been looking around and got this two mod tutorials:

It seems pretty simple, but I still gotta a few questions:
-Does this mods makes the RGB possible trough a normal AV cable [Y,W,R]?
-Are the resistors/capacitors really needed? [I tried it without them and got no signal, because I followed the newer tut that showed no use for them]
-The old tutorial shows a more complete circuit, which I preffer but can someone explain the scemathic shown on the bottom of such tutorial? Im still learning.

The mod is very simple if you are used to soldering. Follow the less complicated tutorial. The SNES Mini outputs RGB just fine. Nintendo simply didn't wire up the connections for whatever reason (I don't even see how this saves money). You basically are just soldering the SNES Mini so the video chip's RGB lines go to the output of the SNES. However, before you reach either end of the soldering point, you need to install a resistor. This is because the SNES Mini outputs an incredibly strong RGB signal. It will look horrible on your TV. I don't know why that guide says to only use 75 ohm resistors. That's way, way too low. I used 130 ohm and found that to look much nicer.
You cannot use the composite (yellow/white/red) cables to get RGB. It doesn't work like that at all.
You will need a RGB SCART cable for the SNES.
The resistors/capacitors are only needed in the RGB SCART cable. There are two different type RGB SCART tables for the SNES. If you live in the USA, you need the one with the capacitors. An easy way to buy one without wasting your money is to buy a PAL Gamecube cable.
However, if you live in the USA, it is going to be really hard to get SCART to look right on your TV. You will need a SCART to YUV transcoder because SCART did not exist in the USA.
If you need any more help on this, let me know. Just know if you live in the USA, it's going to cost you a bit of coin. You might want to just mod it for s-video. It requires just one solder wire and the picture looks great. Then you can use any SNES/N64/Gamecube s-video cable.
