Trim the Psone Screen board more...if you dare

So I did an led mod on my psone screen and, having cut out the transformer used for the fluorescent tube, decided to find out where the ac came from on the board. Well, from what I can see, it looks like a good chunk of the circuit below the transformer might just be used to create a nice ac sin wave to input into the transformer. So, I think that whole section could potentially be cut off of the board (given the led mod has been done) without any harm to the screen. This would also, potentially, save some amps from being drawn.

Now, the section I am talking about is shown here (this is edited from a pic off of a Gamelver post, as I don't have a camera handy, so apologies...):



On side in the pic, the section is pretty much isolated so cutting wouldn't be a big deal. However, on the other side, there are 4 traces which do cross the cutting line and which go to various logic gates, ICs, resistors, etc. This could cause a problem. My gut tells me that that they are just linked to either error checking (i.e. telling the controller that the backlight is working) or creating reference voltages, but I can't be sure. Another thing my gut tels me is that when the PSONE screen running (my currently is in pieces so I can't turn it on) these traces are all at some constant voltage (or current), and if this could be mimicked, then the section could be cut out the control board be tricked into thinking it is still there.

Ok, so you might say, great idea, why don't YOU try it? Well, I don't want to bust my screen. However, I know a few of you have more than one, so I guess one of you might be willing to cut up the screen and try out this mod. It would save a little more space up top and maybe a few mAs of current (maybe not).[/url]

I think you should try it. If I had one, I would, but I don't. If you have a multimeter, you should test those lines and post results. If you try this, don't cut that piece off, just slice the traces until you know it works. If those all go to logic gates, they are probably just high(5V) or low(0V).
