Controller question.

So I looked around on the boards but didn't find a definitive answer. Since the stick in an stock 64 controller wears out I wanted to try to put a GC stick in one. I have seen a mod where a PS2 stick has been punt in a 64 controller, but it was complicated and involved putting code onto a chip, and lots of stuff i did not understand. So is there a simple way to put a GC stick into a 64 controller?

you can put any potentiometer based joystick into almost any 3rd party N64 controller. you can't easily replace the joystick in an official N64 controller because the joystick uses light sensors instead of pots.

no need for crimping, however ribbon isnt too cheap and i got a 16 inch (tehehehe) but the same guy sells 6 inch's on request

yea, it would be easier to get a pre-made cable. But to keep the cable as short as possible I crimped my own cable together, as you only need an inch or so depending where you relocate it to. For this the shorter the better. It's not hard to crimp the cables either, u just put it in and squeeze it together.

But if that guy sells 6 inch ribbon cables then that'd work fine. I just hadn't stumbled across SCSI cables that short. Still if you only need an inch long cable, it's best just to make an inch long cable.
