HELP PS3 POWER SUPPLY

I NEED HELP I AM TRYING TO MAKE A PS3 LAPTOP AND I HAV DESIGNED IT ALL BUT I NEED A PINOUT EXTENDER (IF THERE IS ANYTHNG LIKE THAT) THE 2 GOLDEN THINGS I NEED TO GET THEM TO THE PSU ON THE OTHER SIDE OR I DONT KNOW IF YU NEED IT I HAVE A 40GB PS3 NTSC AND NOT SURE WAT I NEED TO DO???!!!!! PLZ HELP. IF I AM SUCCESSFUL WITH THE LAPTOP I WILL GIVE U GUYS A PICTURE AND A THANKS TO BEN!!!

Hey,

My idea, would be to de-solder the 2 gold pins (Also found inside a PS2 Original), and solder THICK (I do not know what AWG), but solder some thick wire RED and BLACK usually, as your playing with DC. (I was thinking from memory, "Were the pins AC or DC". But I am sure there DC. I mean, you should be able to tell from general electronic knowledge )


So de-solder those off of the PCB Mother / Main Board, and re-attach the thick wire PROPERLY to the Console Board.

I would also put some hot glue, neatly over that joint as you want to be very careful and not risk them detaching. But tug them before this, to test their solder strength (As noted below).


When thats is done, you will have to open up the PSU - and then put those wires, into the correct holes that the original gold pins slid into to make contact. Just think logically here - and place it over the board, and flip it to see which pin went where.


When that is all done, tug the wires (lightly and hard. Hard to explain, but tug them) to make sure you have a good solder join going on. Followed, by more hot glue.

(I am still wondering if it is AC however. And if it is, then TAKE IT REALLY SLOW. And do the best insulation and soldering you can do!)

Hmmm... Not the best idea at all.

I do not know how you are going to make a Laptop / Portable when you do not know how to solder

Try it if you like however. Alligator clips are very bad for such a voltage as they 'spring' off.


I would buy a soldering iron (Buy a kit. It is the best way), and learn to solder.

ive got an idea can i cut the 2 pins off then solder a wire from both end to the motherboard end and then stik it up?? and thanks for all the other posts that u have helped me!!!!!!!!

Yes. You can do that.

But when you plug them into the PS3 PSU, they may move around because they are not on a board or anything to stop them from sliding.

So, Hot Glue them in
