TF2 Mac Update ($10 on sale and a Free Weekend!)

Post by bicostp »

Valve just released TF2 for OS X, along with a new trailer, new hat, comic, a sale, an offline training mode, and a free weekend! If you're still on the fence about buying it for PC if you already have it on console (you know who you are), there's no excuse now. :P

Update details:

Buy TF2 on Steam (or download it for the free weekend)

I've had the game for about a year and a half now, but everyone else needs to get in there!

Downloading now. Got it in the Orange Box a few years ago. And when did Half-Life 2 and it's sequels get put on Mac?

Gee, I don't know who you could be referring to. :P

Downloading now at a snail's pace. Must be lots of people picking it up.

Aww, they limited mat_picmip to -1 and ruined the menu. :( At least the new trailer shows what could be Engineer's new shotgun!

:P

EDIT:

@Limpport: They ported a bit ago. At the same time, the old Source 2004 games (Half-Life 2, Episode 1, etc) were updated to either the Orange Box or Left 4 Dead engine, breaking all the lighting in the process because they didn't update any of the maps to go with the engine upgrade. I bet they did this so they wouldn't have to port another version of Source to OS X.

If I'm remembering right steam uses a bittorrent system for its distribution of games. So their must not be a lot of people picking it up.

Not using bittorrent from what I've seen. Also, a lot of users could bog down a tracker.

Edit: sorry for the bump, I'm surprised a four day old thread is still on the first page...

Not actually BitTorrent, but you upload some parts of the .gcf files as you download them.
