Portable PS2 related... sorta...

I have no experience at all in making portables and the closest experience I have in modding game consoles was when I installed a fliptop on to my PS2 Slim, and even then my Dad helped out a lot. I have benheck's book, but have not had the time to read it much (during summer vacation I finally will) and the only real reason I got interested in making portables was because I have always wanted to take my PS2 everywhere I go, and I was wondering how much exactly would it cost (just an estimate) if I tried to make my own, and how much it would cost (estimate as well obviously) to get somebody to make one for me, I would want it very specificly made, like for example it would have to be a certain model Slim with a fliptop, I had a lot of other specific featres in mind but I can't seem to find the paper I wrote them down on... I know making it myself would probably be cheaper and I would go through the hard work to make it, but I just fear that because of my lack of experience I would end up breaking and rebuying half the materials and then that would make it extremely exspensive... So what I am basically asking for is the estimated prices and also if a portable PS2 is an ok start for portablizing especially since I am a bit low on cash.

Thnx that really helps, as it just so happens when u mentioned any spare parts I mite have I actually have a spare unused fliptop, that saves me a good 20 or 30 dollars... I will also check out some of the work of the user you recommended to me.
