Figuring things out.

I have always been a fan of the mod projects on the benheck forums, and when I finally start a project of my own I find out that I might have a dilemma on my hands. I just recently found out that to make a tablet-like-N64 mod I would need to first convert my N64 with a VGA mod. My question is what are the main differences between a PSone screen (the screen of choice for most hand held mods) and a HP L1506? and do I have to do the VGA mod or is there anyway to just connect them directly?
