screen goes black

If you're making a portable you probably need something to watch it on. (Unless you want to guess what's happening in the game, but I wouldn't advise that) Anyway, this forum is your "Hacking a pocket TV/screen" one-stop solution. Share your experiences and knowledge here.

screen goes black

Post by casper7 »

well i am almost done with my 360 portable. Every thing works but the screen. It turns on and i get a picture for like 3 seconds then it goes black like it shut off but the led is still lit like it's on. When i turn it off then back on it does it again. picture for a couple seconds then black with lit led. Not sure whats wrong, any ideas?

Sounds like not enough power.

Just noticed that when the screen goes black I can still faintly see what the xbox is doing on the screen. So I assume its a back light problem. Any ideas on that?

The backlit lamps are several hundred volts (you probably saw the high voltage warning on the power board). Like hailrazer said, it's probably not enough power. How did you wire it?

Is your Lcd monitor running off its own power supply? If so its sounds like bad capacitors or dry joints on the backlight invertor circuit. I've fixed a few Lcd monitors with the same symptoms. Power but no backlight.

But if your taking 12v from the 360's power brick then like what everyone else is saying not enough power.
