battery connection?
posting this here cause well im werkin on my n64p and its just a general question..
im working on the power connector from my battery and i noticed somthing i coulndt figure out. its a extra battery pak for a dvd player and the connector i desolder-ed to find 3 connect points. i wana by pass this and only use Neg and Pos connections. dono if im making making any sence but... its like the connection between the power of the PS1 screen and the screen. its not the cord its self, that has a pos and neg wire inside it..... but the connector itself, that has 3 prongs. if one is neg one is pos whats the 3rd one for?

im kinda unclear as to where exactly you mean, like you desoldered the barrel plug off the ps1 screen? and you notice 3 holes for which the barrel plug had been soldered with, well, see 2 of which are power, and the other is a detector pin, to see if you have something plugged in, umm, the pins that are farthest from each other, or the only two that are in a striaght line, the one closest to the edge of the pcb should be negative and the farthest should be positive, at least from my experience

detector pin ah sounds smart
yea its the female end of the plug has the 3 solder points. one neg one pos and one as u say is a dectector? what i want to do is not use the plug but the pcb itself so i was just gona wire the pos and neg to the board. the 3rd what should i do with it? ground it so it thinks its got somthing pluged into it?

yea.. actually you could but it dosent matter, since the barrel plugs are universal, and the pcb just has the solder points, the middle pin or the detector pin would do nothing, you could ground it, but it dosent really matter either way.... basically the pin closest to the edge should be the the ground, and the pin furthest from the edge should be the positive pin..., but be careful either way and double check your connections for you fire up your wires

its not realy for the ps1 screen its for the cool battery i got. i just used the ps1 screen as an example of what i was looking at. the battery i have has 4 LED's that are setup so u can press a button and see how much charge u got left. so i was wanting to keep that abilty and the way to get the juice from the batterys is by geting rid of that connector and wiring directly to the board it has. thanks for the helps
