so I've been working on a ps1 portable for about a week now, its somewhat different!
the case is 193 by 133mm milled out of 19mm plastic stuff, its pretty strong.
heres the front the project with screen installed along with the joysticks:

I mapped the corresponding areas to movemont and action buttons on the the original ps1 controller mobo(start and select are L3 and R3). held everthing in with some araldite(its not going anywhere).

I'm getting better at soldering as I go along

my somewhat cut up psone screen, keeping it un led-modded.

the screen and my psone work, I tested them before I desoldered everything, will wire up my batteries and get the powering out of the way.
so I have a dilemna, I kind of ripped of ripped off the plug on my controller and I dont know where to wire my controller to the ps1 motherboard any help greatly apreciated!

thanks, I really am a perfectionist, and it took me like 20+ designs to get to this one.
me and hailrazer had an argument over on modretro about vac-forming cases, and I said why does'nt everyone do it, hailrazer got annoyed, and said its because you cannot screw them together without glue being used,
at the time I was bit annoyed, but now I realise he was right and I have incorparated screw posts in my design- so thanks hailraizer
in regards to bacterias site,I dont know which part to look at to get the controller wiring part

anyway, I cant work on this over weekends, so expect updates starting on monday.

I also have a query, is it possible not to have speakers and just go with headphones, I sort of ran out space for them, on the front, not entirely sure theres enough space on the back either...

ok wired up everything today and...
it sort of worked, the screen lit up, and the green led on the psone mobo lit up, but composite video didnt show, and I tried in 2 locations.
however i did chop the some of it off to fit in my case(just the grounding strip), but I can still connect composite and right and lest audio on on little solder pads. am using rellizates diagram(sticky), and ntsc peices, and they definitely worked, because i tested them together before unscrewing
anyone have something i can do??

I'm not sure how to solve your problem, but I suggest you use RGB for your video. You can tap it from the PSone without any hacking and it should give a nice signal with some 220µf caps attached.

I believe the PSone is a 2 layer board, so when you cut it you need to reconnect the top and the bottom with wire.

Looking really good so far. You've positioned your controller PCB like i did, also you've signed the inside of the case like i do. Cool! As for RGB video, you don't need 220uf caps on the RGB lines. The PSone screen can be connected directly to the PSone board. Thats what the PSone screen was designed to do.

Still working on it. Just need to get the rest of the side panels done. I've got the top panel done with the speakers installed. Should be finished pretty soon.

ok here are some pictures to show the screen and the board are working, but video does not(still have not tried RGB, becuase of school issues).

here you can see the board is showing the LED when I switch on:

and here you can see where I chopped to much off the top of my mobo, I did not hit any traces on the bottom, or any others on the top:


In regards to linking up the top and the bottom with wire, I'm not exactly sure what to link up thats not ground.
