I just have to ask a quick question, because im pretty new to actually making stuff like this and hooking up wires etc.
I'm working on a portable n64 and everything is going according to plan so far. I'll make a project-progress thread sometime, in the near future. probably. yeah.
Anyways, question: I will implement a number of swithes to turn on and off things, like the screen. Would the switch be connected on the ground/-(negative) or positive/+? From what I know about electricity, I would guess positive/+, but like I said; Im new:)
I got another question, actually: Im planning to keep the original power input and make an extension cable to avoid putting that big power dock thing into my portable. Would it then be smart to be able to turn off the wires that goes from the power input to the battery and the TI regulator? (3,3V +, 12V +, ground) I'm thinking that something may get fried if I don't disconnect them during use of the power dock...
Thanks in advance!

Doesn't matter. It can be on the positive or ground, as long as it breaks the circuit.
I don't fully understand your second question. Are you talking about making a master power switch? Because yes, that would be a smart thing to do.

Well, sort of;) I think its a little hard to get a grip on where the power goes all the time so i thought that it would be smart if I just cut the connections between the n64 and the battery/regulator by flipping a switch when the original power supply is connected. Adding a few switches to minimize the chances of frying everything sounds ok to me;)
