Thinking about making a custom classic controller
So here's the thing. We recently got my dad to play Mario Kart Wii. It's probably the first home video game he's actually been good at since his Atari. So I want him to play other Wii games. But the only reason he's able to control Mario Kart is because of the familiar controls, it's like driving a real car, just more ridiculous and cartoony. Now I know not all games support the classic controller, but maybe I could make it work for a sideways wiimote somehow too. Anyway, here is my basic idea. (made in GIMP, not paint!)

- Obviously that isn't the final button placement. I actually have a two-button joystick around, I might be able to use that for L and ZL. Thing is, I don't have another one.

looks good, but maybe you should start him out with one stick and ABXYLR, and add the second stick later, he might feel more comfterble with a less complicated pad at first, and he can graduate later

That could work, considering the other stick isn't that important, and I don't have another one anyway.

I always laugh in my head when adults can't understand buttons on controllers.
They're supposed to be smarter than us, lol. It's quite funny that they can't remember that this button means go forward and this one means stop.

Well I get confused when I play the XBOX, since it's the same buttons but in different spots. It gets pretty annoying.
