Hey guys, i'm new to the site and a complete n00b when it comes to all this stuff, but i am extremely interested in learning how you guys actually make these things.
Since i have absolutely no clue about anything, have you guys got any idea's how i can say...start off? How did you guys begin making all these hacks/mods .ect?
Reading all of the stickies is a good place to start. asking questions in the apropriate section of the forum when you cant find the info is also a good way to learn things. read topics relating to what you want to know
You could start by buying a soldering iron and desoldering braid and taking apart old electronics and desoldering components.

It depends on how much time you spend reading the posts and trying things out for yourself. I wouldn't think it take too long as long as you stay at it and learn from your mistakes and ask a lot of questions. =)

I want to basically learn the basics on constructing...what do you call them? Portables? whatever they are...Just need to know basics, all in all just how to start of with making portables....but i guess first i'd need to learn all the spics and specs of different screens, battery's .ect
Id say start going through the worklogs of portables, and when you see things that you don't know about, research them.

I know of too many members who do not own it. This is truly the Bible of portablizing, and all the projects are fairly simple. It has useful pinouts and wiring diagrams that may not be in the stickies. Too many n00bs ask questions that can be answered in the book (and sometimes with just common sense ). Even if you are planning on portablizing a console that is not used in the book projects (hello, N64), I guarantee you will still learn something useful.
