got 55 inch tv for christmas dilima

I got a 55 inch tv for Christmas. I was really exited but once I got it home and set it up it seems too big especially when playing xbox 360. what do you guys think I should do? I was thinking of taking it back and getting a 42 inch instead.

If you need the money or want to save back up money incase something happens then go with the exchange, but if your not worried the bigger the better .

If money isn't a problem. Then you should take a few days to get used to it. If you still aren't used to it after a few days. Then take it back and get a smaller TV.

Thanks for the comments I am going to exchange the 55 for a 42 inch it would be better for my space and it is $650 cheaper.

Get used to the 55". It took me a week to get used to my 52".

I've played games on several large TVs, and it does take a while to get used to it.
The 55" could easily be too big for the room you have it in, so a 42" might "fit" better. However, if you do a lot of split screen gaming, you'll probably wish you had the bigger screen. The price difference you stated is pretty big, so it might be better to go for the smaller screen and have money to buy stuff to play on it.

I actually had this same problem until today. I usually do my gaming on a projector, which I have displaying at 100''. It is just to much of a hassle to play on consistently. I love how awesome it is, but to turn it on, wait for the bulb, etc. etc. and then sit down and play is annoying sometimes. (It is also hard to view the whole screen at once, even if you sit really far back.) I got a 32'' Toshiba 32AV50RZ today, and am loving it so far. Great quality, the set itself looks sleek, and it is just great overall. I plan on using this for most of my gaming now, and the projector for movies and gaming with friends.

semi-off topic: The TV apparently only supports 720p (Which I knew going into it) but it picks up a few 1080i OTA stations, and shows my 360 as displaying in 1080i. Is my TV just flattering me? Or do you think it actually displays those resolutions?

720p is the screen's native resolution, but it can downscale 1080i and display it. Use 720p, the way 1080i works makes it best suited to CRTs.

So have the 360 display 720p instead of the 1080? Do you think there will be a noticable difference?

If there is a difference, it'll probably be in 720p's favor. With 1080i, the TV has to deinterlace the signal and scale it, both of which can cause a small amount of lag (according to wikipedia). Plus, I don't think any/many games are rendered in 1080, so there probably isn't much more to see even if your TV was 1080p resolution.
