That is total crap. eBay needs someone who actually has some sort of idea about tech to go over these kinds of things, because they seem to only employ monkeys who randomly pull auctions in order to make it seem like they know what they are doing. For example, I bought a few Wii modchips a few months back, and they were not pulled for weeks, because it was a new chip, and not on their "insta-pull list" (As opposed to "CFW PSP"). Then they go and pull legit stuff like this... We should all email Engadget, I bet they would update their story.

Ebay pulled it for a policy violation.... I'm dealing with it. Endgadget has updated their story about it. They still don't have the new link though. I'm mainly mad because all the momentum it had has been lost, but the people who really want it will find it.

I've had a lot of fun reading the Endgadget comments about me. Most of them seem to think I am "disrespectful" and "not classy" because I won it and then immediately went to sell it and, that I even accepted the prize with the plan of selling it. Most of them would likely do what I did had they won it knowing someone would pay $1000s for it.

Anyway I cant wait to see where it goes from here but I fear it may not sell for as much. We shall see!

I hear ya. I don't think the winner of my auction is going to pay, so I'll probably have to relist or something. Maybe you can notify the high bidders of the auction that you relisted. eBay sucks sometimes.

That's why I go with the BIN route. It's tempting to be greedy and try to get every penny. But it's better to be GUARANTEED the money and no hassle with a BIN pay immediately with Paypal.

problem with fixed price (BIN) listings is ebay charges you out the wazoo for em! 8.75% listing/selling fee, plus paypal takes their 3% out of that so you wind up paying them back almost 12% of what you won. you sell something for 100$ and free shipping you get to keep about 89$ after fees and then you get to take shipping out of that!

ebay charges a lower percentage for BIN than auction. What I would do, though, is put in a restriction that people with less than x feedback can't bid (ebay has a setting to do that).

No it's 8% for the first $50 then 4.5% on the remainder.

So if I sold a $800 portable I would pay $4 on the first $50 then $33.75 on the rest for a total of $37.50 which is around 4.75%

Then Paypal would take $23.50

So I would pay $61 on $800 which is a total of a little over 7.5%

And I NEVER sell anything with free shipping unless I add that into the costs of the BIN.
