Does anyone have any kind of info on how to convert D-pad signals to analog stick? ( is it even possible) Unidentified Assialant said something about it. (PSone section)

well this is not exatally converting signals but

do the tactile switches and take a controll stick and put a base on it that would push the buttons and enclose it (this is atari's method)

If you mean usind a regular D-Pad, it is impossible. It is a Digital-Pad, meaning either 1 or 0, on or off, Mario is or isn't moving.

Use 2 digital potentiometers and 4 tact switches

well, you still can, you just need to hook it's leads up to 2 digital pots
