Re: help planning gamecube portable?
whatever you do, do not waist your money on that screen. it is only good for anything under a snes and they are huge with multiple boards, so it would be hard to slim down. try one of these 5" psone screens that many of us use

Re: help planning gamecube portable?
don't buy those blue batteries on ebay that say they are 6800mAh or anything that looks like a blue box with a switch on it, they are really 680mAh and won't power your cube for 2 minutes.
for batteries you can check out some at batteryspace.com, hailrazer has a thread about how to hook them up to a protection circuit and what batteries to buy here. http://forums.benheck.com/viewtopic.php?f=43&t=34576" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
good luck! also what revision is your board? rev. c boards can make smaller portables!

Re: help planning gamecube portable?
i'm using a ZN-45, not that professional but who cares
and yeah i do have a worklog, check the n64 section of this site and modretro. haven't done much but case work. also doing some secret stuff with my n64 that will be shown when i complete my n64p
Re: help planning gamecube portable?
i was thinking about using that case for a snes portable.i think it looks better for a n64p though.

Re: help planning gamecube portable?
a snes portable wouldn't need anything bigger then a ZN-40 depending on what hardware you are using.

Hey man! Welcome to the scene!
Here's some tips:
- PS1 screens are GREAT, but if you want an easier-to-use screen, use a car monitor screen
- MicroCon controllers are nice and small
- Spend weeks upon weeks reading everything in this section (seriously)
- don't make the portable for money-not yet (do it for your own enjoyment
)
- ALWAYS have at least 1 working Gamecube+game to use for testing
feel free to PM me if you need any help on anything

PSone Screen
5000 mAh battery using this charger from DX
Switching Regulator for Screen
ZN-45 Case
This is everything that I am currently using and it all works great. That battery isn't one of those evil blue batteries and actually has a close to 5000 mAh capacity. It's cheaper than all Batteryspace batteries, too. You won't need to spend $300 if you don't mess anything up. Worst case scenario is you frying a GC Motherboard somehow. You will need to find some bondo/epoxy/paint on your own, but that shouldn't be too hard. Don't forget you will need a soldering iron, hot glue gun, dremel, and other miscellaneous parts too.
