custom RC cars?

Post by D3mriley4D »

hey everyone,
i was just wondering how complicated do you think this will be cuz i was thinking of buying a couple different rc stuff like helicopters and cars then taking them apart and putting them together to build like a custom RC car or wutever and like attach weapons to it so it can be for like battles, and i started thinking of some pretty important things.
1.im probably gonna have to make a custom remote.
2.im gonna have to program the remote.
3. im gonna have to make a custom case
soo do u guys think it will be worth all the trouble and how hard will it be?
(if i do make it ill prolly sell it on ebay so i can earn some cash)
but is it worth building and do you guys think it will be challenging?

They're called combat robots. They aren't technically robots, because almost all of them are just remote controlled. Battlebots and Robot Wars are tv shows that were competitions between robots, but I think they've both been canceled.
Don't plan on mutating RC cars together and getting a good result, especially with toy level RCs. Robot Marketplace has many of the parts you'll need. It is not a cheap hobby. I looked into it several years ago, and you can easily spend $500-1000 for a half decent robot. Do some googling for some more info. I don't think there are any guides, but you can probably get some tips and ideas.
Another thing to consider is competitions. A combat robot isn't much use or fun if you don't have anyone to battle with. See if there is an organization in your area.
I doubt many people would want to buy a combat robot, and you probably won't make much of a profit (if any). There isn't much demand, and anyone that wants one would probably just build their own. Your best bet would be to build your own to show off your skills, then others might commission you to build them one of their design.

My main hobby is combat robots, if you are really keen on this then go here http://www.fightingrobots.co.uk/forum/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; create an account adn people will give you advice on waht you need and how mcuh ti will cost. A combat robot or even rc car made from bits of rc helicotper and car wont sell on ebay, it just wont. Heavy weight robots (there 100 kg) sell for a couple of hundred and feather weights (13.6 kg) can go for as little as a tenner. even the feather weights can push with tremendous force, my feather weight5 can go 13 mph and carry me along at about 5 mph. Nothing an rc car could dream of matching. Theres just no point trying to grapht an rc car together from bits of other rc cars. if you are really serious about this, it will cost around 200 quid for a well armored ram bot and significantly more if you want a weapon. I am muchalucha on the fra forum , pm me .
