Google Phone
Is possibly going to be 100 bucks if you have a gmail account? No contract? Is anyone else beyond pumped?

If this is true I'm so getting one.

Re: Google Phone
I'm assuming they will integrate Google voice with it. With google voice you get your own Google voice number that allows you to manage an online inbox, make calls and texts, receive calls and all kinds of things.Triton wrote:if its true its pretty amazing and Id get one too. can you send SMS messages via Gtalk to people cellphones? ive had my gmail account since it was still invite only and betabut nothing is confirmed to be true yet

Leave me a message and I'll post what it transcribes it as.

One of the lab things in gmail lets you send SMS messages via the chat in gmail. It works pretty good. You just have to enable it.Triton wrote:if its true its pretty amazing and Id get one too. can you send SMS messages via Gtalk to people cellphones? ive had my gmail account since it was still invite only and betabut nothing is confirmed to be true yet
$100 is cheap for any decent phone (without a contract). I'm not holding my breath, but if it is true, I may be finally getting a cell phone. Even $200 would be a good deal if the hardware is anything like the other Android phones available. If only it had a physical keyboard (it doesn't look like it does).

Re: Google Phone
the nexus one as its being called presently is running android 2.1 and is supposed to be pretty fast, dont know the hardware specs as of yet. the lack of a physical keyboard is a bummer in my book but a hundred dollar phone with no contract might outweigh that. it depends on what carriers support it. Tmobile is aparently onboard, and AT&T is rumored to be as well. but Tmo doesnt exist in my area

If T-Mobile UK carry this I'll be the happiest man alive. Should be a proper iPhone killer at that price.

Who needs a phone, when you have a telegraph set?

Re: Google Phone
If you own it outright with no contract, and it has a decent amount of storage (or a storage card slot) and WiFi, I might get it just to use as a PMP. (My old Dell Axim's battery is getting tired.)
So finally they come out with an Android PDA comparable to the Apple iNewton, er iPod Touch.
