Screen problem

Hey everyone. I just recently started a snes portable project. I got my screen in a few days ago. I am using a 5" Gamecube LCD from hip gear. On the case it says the screen takes 12v so without taking the screen out of its case I put the wires from an 8AA battery holder into the two spots where a gamecube adapter would normally go. After doing this I plugged the screen into my snes mini but nothing came up on the screen. I could hear the sound just fine but no video. The old screen I had took 7.5v so I decided to try the 7.5v into the new screen but still it didn't work. Please if anyone can help me I would be very grateful.
